Since 2015 ceramic membranes have been in continuous use in dewatering MF and UF membrane concentrate to achieve Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD). In this case study for DOC and Fe, removal of the Sludge with 20% solids is produced automatically on demand without consumables or labor of any kind. The recovered water is sent directly to the clear well. This presentation will focus on performance parameters such as duty, mass balances, energy, cost structure, flux, reliability and method for this UL listed NSF/ANSI 61 certified process. Other unique features about this ZLD installation are that there is no air sparging, backwash or back pulse activities to maintain flux.
