This Paper provides a snapshot of Microbial Characteristics and Membrane Permeate Flux at Varying MLVSS Concentrations in MBR. A better understanding of the microbial characteristics in MBRs can provide a way to reduce membrane cleaning requirements and maximize membrane Productivity. Microbial characteristics in MBRs are different from those in conventional suspended growth biological processes. MBRs operate at higher organic loading rates and/or longer solids retention times (SRTs), resulting in higher mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) and extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) concentrations, and higher MLSS viscosity. The study concludes that High MLVSS in MBR Increase Viscosity, Decrease Membrane Flux.
