This papers discusses the Singapore PUB’s NEWater, a potable drinking water that is produced from reclaimed water that has been purified using advanced membrane technologies. NEWater is produced via a multi-barrier treatment process that includes Micro- or Ultra-filtration, followed by Reverse Osmosis (RO) and finally UV disinfection. discussed are the monitoring of four key parameters (Silica, Nitrate, Total Dissolved Solids, Chloride) to estimate when the RO membranes will need to be replaced.
