This paper describes the wastewater master planning challenges in the Southern Outer Banks coastal community. The high cost of land, the challenges of public-private regionalization, influent flow and load issues, the limited area available for effluent disposal, and stringent effluent disposal regulations for non-discharge systems have presented interesting challenges to Currituck County.
