Laboratory toxicity testing of four typical test species (mussels, kelp, and minnows) demonstrated that there were no statisitcally observable adverse impacts from average brine concentrations. Additional work showed that the theoretical high brine discharge concentrations had no more impact than the average brine concentations. It is suggested that unidentified constituents in high brine blend may have a mitigating effect on mortality.
