Modified Fouling Index, the Indicator for the 21st Century: Practical Implementation and Evaluation

I have not seen one instance of the MFI used in practice for characterizing the fouling potential of membrane treatment system feed water, despite the potential benefits over SDI, in my 10 years of engineering experience with membrane treatment systems. Only recently have I heard MFI even mentioned at a conference. Since SDI testing has been an indispensable routine field test, I want to thoroughly evaluate and compare MFI testing to SDI testing in a field environment to determine if MFI testing should supplement or supplant SDI testing in a practical field environment.
