Membrane Plants Reaching the End of Their Useful Life, Now What?

Three of the most common membrane filtration products are offered as a proprietary system design which has limited interchangeability when membranes are replaced. Original Equipment Manufacturers have increased their participation in the low pressure membrane market using modules manufactured by different membrane manufacturers. Two approaches for retrofitting modules in a membrane filtration system that have gained the most traction are creating a near-clone of competitor’s products and the other is to modify the existing skid to accommodate alternative membrane products. Standardization features are increasing in membrane filtration modules, skid designs, and process operations.
