This paper discussed laboratory integrity testing of reverse osmosis (RO) membranes monitored by a surrogate test for rejection of ions in the presence of various membrane foulants and scales. Covered are methods and materials and a results discussion. Covered in the discussion are the differences of qualitative versus quantitative results indicating that the surrogates used did not exploit the full potential of virus rejection of RO membranes.
