Gas permeable membranes can cost-effectively remove oxygen from water, replacing conventional deaeration strippers in industrial applications. Historically used for high purity water treatment in various industrial facilities, there is strong technical and commerical justification for membrane dearation in broader applications such as offshore waterflooding for oil and gas operations. This presentation will present findings from a long-term seawater membrane dearation pilot test and discuss the current installations in oil and gas facilities.
