Treatment of sourcewater with higher contaminant loadings results in increased fouling rates on RO membranes. Pretreatment of the sourcewater is required to improve membrane performance. This paper reports tests conducted on a novel membrane with improved “extra fouling resistant” XFR membranes. Lab scale studies demonstrate both improve resistance to fouling and contaminant removal performance of the XFR menbrane.
