Variable salinity desalination applications are becoming more abundant. The Expeditionary Unit Water Purifier Generation 1 was used to evaluate the practical aspects of converting a singlestage seawater system with energy recovery to a two-stage brackish water system capable of 75% water recovery. Performance is compared with various levels of salinity in the seawater configuration and brackish water configuration.
