This paper discusses the development of modified cellulose acetate (CA) membranes to increase their surface charge and potentially increase their removal of charged pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs). The objective of this study is to conduct two field tests to evaluate their effectiveness in the removal of ppt and ppb levels of the same PPCPs from real waters. Discussed in detail are the various membrane considerations and the results obtained.
