This paper investigates the performance of forward osmosis membranes under operating conditions typical of industrial-scale FO membrane modules. Using a novel bench top system experiments were performed one cellulose triacetate and two thin film composite polyamide membranes were tested to evaluate the performance of traditional and emerging FO membranes. The paper discusses results relating membrane performance to hydraulic conditions as well as those from current accepted practices.
