This paper describes the design of a membrane treatment facility for Miami Dade Water and Sewer District for the dual treatment objectives of membrane softening and nitrate reduction for the South Miami Heights WTP. In addition, this facility will use an integrated membrane approach using parallel treatment trains of ultralowpressure (ULP) reverse osmosis membranes and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes to provide a multiple barrier approach for the treatment of this shallow aquifer water supply source.
