The results of pilot study for the San Jacinto River Authority are evaluated. Selection of the optimum treatment system was based on costs along with evaluations of the treated water quality, ease of operation and maintenance, and long term system reliability. The general strengths and weaknesses of ceramic and polymeric membranes are evaluated as applicable to any drinking water treatment system considering upgrading an existing system or installing new treatment.
