This presentation discusses the advantages of ceramic (CM) ultrafiltration membranes (UF) for surface water treatment for municipal drinking water applications. Nanostone piloted their ceramic membrane technology for 2 years on the Boise River, and has been retrofitting other polyeric membrane plants in the last few years. This presentation will discuss the similarities in operating strategies beween polymeric MF/UF versus Nanostone’s ceramic membranes, and the ease of retrofits to eliminate fiber breakage issues and cold water flux advantages.
