Because of the historical cost and perceived complexity of MBR technology, there are still a limited number of large MBR facilities in operation in Texas (the majority of the existing facilities are package plants, less than 0.1 MGD). The goal of this presentation is to review case studies for different MBR facilities in Texas (some designed versus some in construction or in operation), to highlight differences in project needs for each MBR system (i.e. what led to use MBR), the different types of MBR systems used (i.e. hollow fiber versus flat sheet), a brief discussion of TCEQ requirements to implement MBR in Texas, and a brief discussion of upcoming advancements to the use of MBR.
