This paper provides an overview of the approach and focused deliberation which resulted in the selection of a treatment process that moved beyond regulatory requirements to meet consumer expectations for the City of Rifle, CO. The application of RO for treating fresh surface water is relatively uncommon but are likely to increase as utilities use new water supplies of lesser quality.
