This presentation will review the removal of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from surface water using nanofiltration (NF). A 20-gpm NF pilot has been in operation since October 2021 to evaluate treatment performance and operational challenges. To date, we have evaluated PFAS removal at two recoveries: 80% and 85%. In the near future we will be performing a membrane autopsy and conducting clean-in-place (CIPs) to restore membrane performance. Additionally, a column pilot is in operation, evaluating ion exchange (IX), granular activated carbon (GAC), and a novel sorbent for PFAS removal from the NF concentrate.
