122,000 M3/Day Into a 106,700 M3/Day Footprint ñ Seawater Desalination Expansion in Morocco

The OCP Group, founded in 1920, is a Moroccan state-owned phosphate rock miner, phosphoric acid manufacturer and phosphate fertilizer producer. OCP owns and operates a large seawater desalination facility at the Jorf Lasfar industrial complex, approximately 120 kilometers southwest of Casablanca. The facility was installed in 2015 to produce 75,800 m3/day of desalinated product water for industrial use, with provisions to expand to 106,700 m3/day. Since 2015 OCPís water needs have increased substantially. Jacobs led a team including OCP and Worley/JESA in a technical evaluation of the existing plant and subsequent production of design documents to increase the capacity of the facility to 122,000 m3/day. This ìPhase II+î expansion fits within the existing footprint which was designed for only 106,700 m3/day. The Phase II+ expansion includes: ï Twelve new UF racks each fitting additional UF modules into the available footprint ï Minimizing UF rack downtime by improvements to the UF Recovery, UF Cleaning Systems and UF membrane integrity testing systems as described below ï Two new RO trains/racks each including additional membranes in the 1st pass
