The town of Jupiter operates a unique nanofiltration (NF) plant that includes an innovative system of split-feed pressure vessels configured with center-port concentrate outlets. When the plant was designed, the split-feed concept was considered a promising design innovation to reduce feed pressure. Now, with seven years of successful operation and no observable biofouling, the design has proven to be a reliable and cost-saving solution for the town. Attendees will learn how this long-term stable performance has been aided by the split-feed design as well as the pretreatment. Recent membrane autopsy data will be reviewed. Finally, the split feed concept will be compared with alternative approaches, such as hybrid membrane configuration.
