On-line integrity monitoring of NF and RO membranes for demonstrating pathogen removal using the Nalco TRASAR(TM) fluorescently-tagged antiscalant was evaluated at pilot scale. The results showed that 2.5- and 3-log removal can be achieved for NF and RO membranes, respectively; significantly greater than can be achieved using conventional monitoring methods such as conductivity.
