To meet the water demands of a new industrial zone in Council Bluffs, IA the city decided to construct a new WTP close to the area. They decided on a membranes facility because of footprint constraints and the ability to operate the plant remotely from the existing WTP. Pre oxidation and UF membranes were integrated to remove high levels of iron and manganese in the raw water. RO membranes followed the UF membranes for TDS and hardness removal. The design of the facility was built for 5 MGD initially with immediate expansion to 10 MGD.
