Multi-Faceted Approach to Mitigate Membrane Filtration Fouling while Improving Overall Treatment Reliability

This paper will describe Marco Island’s membrane filtration fouling troubleshooting, alternative membrane manufacturer module replacement and facility expansion experience. Other utilities and consultants will benefit from the knowledge generated during the process of understanding/mitigating of MF fouling within the Marco system. Utilities will also benefit from understanding the approach used to select alternative replacement modules and the lessons learned during the installation/commissioning of new the modules within another manufacturer?s system. The paper will also explain how the expansion of the MF system ultimately improved water treatment system reliability.
